Bilateral Master Classes

E-FIX Project just finished the process of Bilateral Master Classes. Bilateral Master Classes represent key internal knowledge transfer activity organized on bilateral or trilateral level, in forms of expert workshops between implementing Project Partners and expert Project Partners for the respective piloted financing mechanism. They represent a way to close out the „knowledge gap” in pilot regions.

The leasing Bilateral Master Class were held on the 11th  of June 2019 in Yerevan. The purpose of the masterclass was to introduce modern, innovative financing mechanisms of energy efficient programs to the representatives of different companies engaged in the sale of solar and renewable energy equipment, energy efficient equipment in Armenia and discuss the ideas for possible new projects to be implemented and financed through leasing.

Presentations from thematic workshop on 'Financial Instruments for the Low-Carbon Economy'!

The Policy Learning Platform was hosting a thematic workshop on 'Financial Instruments for the Low-Carbon Economy' in Brussels on 20 June 2019. 

During this one-day workshop thematic experts Katharina Krell and Simon Hunkin from Low-carbon economy provided knowledge and exchange of experience in the area of financing options for large-scale energy efficiency refurbishments and other low-carbon economy investments.

Participants had the chance to hear about the latest developments regarding financial instruments (FI) at EU level and examine setups for diverse types of financial instruments such as soft loans, guarantee schemes and revolving funds.

Project E-FIX at CrowdStream conference

The E-FIX project was invited to the final conference of the Interreg Danube project CrowdStream, taking place on the 28th of May 2019 in Varna, Bulgaria. On this occasion, the E-FIX coordinator held a presentation, giving an overview over approaches on alternative financing for energy projects, reaching out to a broader audience, beyond the immediate project area.

The main objective of the CrowdStream project was to improve the effectiveness of public/private business-support for innovative spin-offs & social enterprises to access qualitative alternative financing (crowdfunding).

EC Communication Campaign: Audits in H2020 Projects

E-FIX Train-the-Trainer Seminar & Partner Meeting in Vienna

27 representatives of the E-FIX partnership from six countries in the Central and South Eastern Europe and the Caucasus came together for a two-day Train-the-Trainer seminar on the 12th and 13th March 2019 in Vienna. The E-FIX project aims to support the uptake of innovative financing mechanisms in order to facilitate the realisation of an increased number of energy efficiency projects in the focus countries. Conducted and hosted by the University of Business and Economics Vienna and with valuable input from ConPlusUltra as project coordinator as well as from the project partners CONDA (AT) and IPOPEMA (PL), the seminar addressed both financing as well as non-financing experts that will subsequently act as trainers in their countries.

Over the past couple of years crowd funding became a well-known term and crowd investing is an already established tool for company financing on one side and part of investment strategies for investors on the other side.

While crowd funding spread quickly in the startup scene and became famous for non-profit organizations, art and cultural projects, crowd investing evolved quickly into a solid fundraising method for SMEs, real estate and energy projects as well. 

Democratization of Energy

Although renewably energy industry is facing many challenges and barriers, such as regulatory hurdles, technical challenges and the rethinking of consumer, financing is one of the main impediments to cause a change.
